Dr. Maté is an extremely controversial figure for more reasons than I can list here. There are massive swaths of the medical community who cannot hear or trust a word this man has to say due to his (often callously and unapologetically) hammering on the part theory part proven idea that all addiction, chronic illness and (most) neurodivergence are rooted in childhood trauma.
